Just down from the State Theater in historic Downtown Sioux Falls, M.B. Haskett Delicatessen has been serving Lucia Watson inspired cuisine since 2012.
Michael Haskett returned to Sioux Falls with a simple idea for a restaurant: real food made by real people. He was unsure of many of the details beyond the concept of minimally processed, ingredient-focused food, but soon secured a venue in Downtown Sioux Falls and a couple of friends to join him. Equipped with a miniature convection oven and a couple of electric fryers for boiling water, M. B. Haskett Delicatessen opened in January of 2012.
Enthusiasm for the project was contagious. Haskett and his staff relished the challenge of creating and experimenting with a new menu each day, and the community downtown welcomed the fresh option. 2014 afforded a complete renovation of the historic space in the Southwest Building on Phillips Ave, and with an actual kitchen the team at M. B. Haskett continues to realize its mission of inspiring a spirit of creativity and connectivity through seasonally-focused scratch cooking intended to improve the common good.
